Arvia is an LNG-powered Excel-class cruise ship operated by P&O Cruises. Built by Meyer Werft at Papenburg, Germany, she entered service in December 2022 and is a sister ship to Iona.
The ship has a gross tonnage of 184,700, an overall length of 344.5 metres and a moulded breadth of 42 metres. Meyer Werft publishes approximately 5,200 passengers at standard occupancy, while port scheduling data records a maximum capacity of 6,264. P&O Cruises lists 15 guest decks, and the shipbuilder's technical profile gives 20 decks in total.
Arvia is powered by liquefied natural gas. Meyer Werft gives total installed engine power of 61,760kW, propulsion power of 37MW and a published speed of 21.5 knots. The shipbuilder describes LNG propulsion as eliminating sulphur-oxide emissions and substantially reducing nitrogen oxides and particulate matter compared with conventional marine fuels.
The ship's centrepiece is SkyDome, a pool and entertainment space beneath a retractable glass roof. Other attractions include Altitude, a high-ropes and activity area; Mission Control, an interactive submarine-themed experience; the Headliners Theatre; The 710 Club; four swimming pools and a broad selection of restaurants and bars.
P&O Cruises currently describes Arvia as offering 30 bars and restaurants and eight entertainment venues. Accommodation ranges from inside and sea-view cabins to balcony cabins, Conservatory Mini Suites and suites.
Meyer Werft delivered Arvia to P&O Cruises on 15 December 2022. Her planned inaugural departure had been delayed, and the ship began her first passenger voyage from Southampton on 23 December 2022, sailing to the Canary Islands.
Arvia was named in Barbados on 16 March 2023, with singer and performer Nicole Scherzinger serving as godmother. The ship was designed for warm-weather itineraries and typically divides her programme between Mediterranean and Atlantic voyages from Southampton and winter Caribbean seasons from Bridgetown and Antigua.
The ship is registered in Hamilton, Bermuda. IMO 9849693 is the vessel's permanent identifier. AIS services list MMSI 310856000 and call sign ZCHG8; these operational identifiers should be reviewed periodically in case the registration changes.
Although Carnival Corporation publishes fleet-wide shore-power targets, Deck7 had not located an authoritative ship-specific source confirming Arvia's shore-power connection or exhaust-gas cleaning equipment by 21 August 2026. Those fields remain unconfirmed rather than being inferred from related ships.
