Carnival Sunshine is a Sunshine-class ocean cruise ship operated by Carnival Cruise Line. Built by Fincantieri at Monfalcone in Italy, the vessel entered service in November 1996 as Carnival Destiny and was notable at the time as the first passenger ship to exceed 100,000 gross tonnes.
The ship measures approximately 272.2 metres in length and 35.5 metres across the beam, with a registered gross tonnage of 102,853gt following her extensive 2013 transformation. Carnival lists accommodation for 3,002 guests based on double occupancy and approximately 1,040 crew members.
Originally constructed as Carnival Destiny, the ship underwent one of Carnival's most extensive rebuilding projects during a major dry dock in 2013. The work substantially altered the vessel's public spaces, accommodation and upper decks before she returned to service as Carnival Sunshine. The transformation also gave its name to the Sunshine class, which includes similarly transformed sister ships Carnival Sunrise and Carnival Radiance.
Onboard attractions include the multi-level Serenity adults-only retreat, WaterWorks water park, SportSquare, Cloud 9 Spa and a range of entertainment venues. Dining options include Guy's Burger Joint, BlueIguana Cantina, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, Bonsai Sushi, Cucina del Capitano and JiJi Asian Kitchen, although individual venues and operating arrangements can change.
Carnival Sunshine has operated from a number of US home ports during her career. Current and future deployments should be checked directly with Carnival Cruise Line because seasonal home-port and itinerary schedules can change.
