Connect is a purpose-built European river ship owned by Transcend Cruises and chartered by Lindblad Expeditions for National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions voyages. The 120-guest vessel entered service in 2026 and launched Lindblad's first European river-cruise programme.

The ownership and operating arrangement is important. Connect is not owned by Lindblad Expeditions or National Geographic. Transcend Cruises developed the ship for the full-ship charter market, while Lindblad charters it for a programme carrying Lindblad expedition teams and selected National Geographic experts.

The vessel is sometimes described as Transcend Connect or MS Connect. Lindblad markets it simply as Connect, which is the name used for this Deck7 ship profile.

Construction and entry into service

Transcend Cruises signed the construction agreement with Dutch river-ship specialist Den Breejen Shipyard in 2024. Steel cutting took place in December 2024 and the keel was laid at Orșova in Romania on 4 February 2025.

The hull entered the water in Romania in July 2025 and was transported along the Danube and Rhine to the Netherlands. Den Breejen completed the vessel's outfitting and commissioning at Hardinxveld-Giessendam.

Tillberg Design of Sweden developed the interior design, including the accommodation, public rooms and flexible meeting spaces. The ship was named in the Netherlands during August 2026 before beginning Lindblad's inaugural European river operation.

Connect's first published National Geographic-Lindblad departure left on 15 August 2026. The Holland and Belgium: Medieval History and Scenic Waterways sailing marked Lindblad's formal entry into European river cruising.

Connect specifications

Lindblad publishes a length of 442 feet and beam of 38 feet, equivalent to approximately 134.7 metres by 11.6 metres. Transcend and shipbuilding sources commonly round the length to 135 metres.

The ship carries a maximum of 120 guests in 60 cabins, supported by 54 crew and staff. Lindblad describes three principal passenger decks, while wider vessel references count four levels when the open Sun Deck is included.

No dependable primary source had published Connect's gross tonnage, draught, European Number of Identification, call sign or formal maximum speed by 19 August 2026. Those fields are therefore blank or unconfirmed in the Deck7 Ship Index rather than being estimated.

Flexible cabins and suites

Connect was created principally for private groups, meetings, incentive travel and specialist charters. Its accommodation was designed around that flexible operating model.

The vessel contains 60 staterooms. Pairs of adjoining rooms can be combined to form 30 two-room suites, enabling the ship to operate with configurations ranging from 30 larger suites to 60 separate cabins.

Lindblad describes each standard room as approximately 210 square feet. When two are connected, the resulting accommodation measures approximately 420 square feet and can provide a separate living room, two bathrooms and increased wardrobe space.

Full-height picture windows extend across the outside wall of the accommodation. The upper portion can be lowered to provide an infinity-style balcony effect, while smart glass in the shower can switch between transparent and opaque settings.

Public rooms and dining

The Forum is a two-storey amphitheatre with tiered seating and unobstructed sightlines. It was conceived for presentations and group events but also supports Lindblad's lectures, destination briefings and expedition programming.

Dining is offered through a main restaurant and a smaller bistro-style venue. The ship also includes an aft lounge and bar, together with several adaptable spaces that Transcend can configure for the requirements of an individual charter.

The upper deck provides outdoor dining and relaxation areas, a grill and bar, fitness zones and space for events such as film screenings or evening gatherings. A fleet of bicycles is carried for independent and guided exploration where the local programme permits.

Wellness facilities

Connect has an unusually extensive wellness provision for a European river ship. Facilities include a sauna with a large river-facing window, fitness equipment and a yoga studio.

Transcend designed the wider wellness area to extend across several levels of the ship. The concept is intended to accommodate both conventional leisure use and organised activities for charter groups.

Environmental technology

Transcend describes Connect as incorporating hybrid propulsion, sustainable materials and technology intended to reduce food waste. Published construction information also refers to EU Stage V engines and an electric thruster arrangement intended to support low-emission manoeuvring.

The company has not published enough technical information to calculate the ship's emissions or fuel consumption on an individual voyage. It has also not provided authoritative confirmation of shore-power capability or an exhaust-gas cleaning system, so those Deck7 index fields remain unconfirmed.

Connect is not described by its owner, builder or charter operator as LNG-powered. Deck7 therefore records the vessel as not LNG-capable unless new technical information is released.

European river programme

The ship's inaugural Lindblad itinerary explores Belgium and the Netherlands, with calls and excursions involving Brussels, Antwerp, Ghent, Rotterdam, Arnhem and Amsterdam.

Later voyages operate on the Rhine under the title Rhine River: Castles, Culture and Culinary Delights. The programme includes German destinations such as Mainz, Frankfurt and Heidelberg, together with Strasbourg and Colmar in France.

Lindblad applies elements of its expedition model to these inland voyages. Sailings carry an expedition leader and field staff, while National Geographic experts join selected departures. Programming combines history, art, food, photography and cultural interpretation rather than concentrating solely on conventional sightseeing.

Sister ship Evolve

Evolve is the sister ship to Connect and shares the principal 120-guest, 60-cabin design. It is scheduled to expand Lindblad's European river programme in 2027, including festive-season voyages associated with the Danube and European Christmas markets.

Transcend Cruises has also announced two further vessels, Create and Engage, as part of a planned four-ship fleet. Their future charter arrangements should not be assumed to match those of Connect unless separately confirmed.
