Marella Explorer is a Century-class ocean cruise ship operated by Marella Cruises, part of TUI Group. The vessel was built by Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany, in 1996 and originally entered service as Galaxy for Celebrity Cruises.
During her career she has also sailed as Celebrity Galaxy, Mein Schiff and Mein Schiff 1. TUI Group confirms that Marella Explorer joined the Marella Cruises fleet in May 2018.
Current registry/AIS data records 76,998 GT, IMO number 9106297, MMSI 249051000, call sign 9HJH9 and Malta flag. Current AIS dimensions are approximately 262 metres long by 32 metres beam.
Capacity and decks
Published historical technical data for the Century-class vessel gives capacity of approximately 1,924 passengers, around 909 crew and 10 passenger-accessible decks. These figures should be distinguished from current operator occupancy figures if Marella publishes a different accommodation configuration.
Draught and speed
Current AIS data frequently reports an operating draught around 8.5 metres, while historical vessel particulars give approximately 7.7 metres. Because AIS draught is voyage-dependent and the historical figure requires stronger primary technical confirmation, Deck7 leaves the ship-index design draught null. Likewise, observed AIS speeds are not used as the vessel's technical maximum speed.
Environmental systems
Marella Explorer is a conventionally fuelled vessel built in the 1990s and is not LNG-powered. Deck7 has not established sufficiently explicit current ship-specific primary documentation confirming commissioned shore-power connectivity or an exhaust-gas-cleaning-system installation, so these fields remain Not confirmed.
