Virgin Voyages has opened early bookings for its first season in Scandinavia and the Baltic, with Valiant Lady due to sail from Amsterdam during summer 2028.
Members of the Virgin Voyages Sailing Club and travel advisers received a 24-hour booking window beginning on 13 August 2026. General public sales are scheduled to open on 14 August.
The programme introduces Virgin's adults-only ships to Northern Europe on a collection of entirely new itineraries. It includes Norwegian fjords, Scandinavian capitals, an overnight stay in Stockholm and the company's first cruise across the Arctic Circle.
Fifteen new ports for Virgin Voyages
Valiant Lady will make maiden calls for the company at 15 ports during the season:
- Oslo
- Copenhagen
- Gdynia for Gdańsk
- Stockholm
- Warnemünde for Berlin
- Aarhus
- Molde
- Nordfjordeid
- Flåm
- Tromsø
- Honningsvåg for the North Cape
- Trondheim
- Åndalsnes
- Olden
- Cherbourg
Every itinerary contains at least one destination not previously visited by a Virgin Voyages ship. Amsterdam will act as the principal homeport for the four northern cruises, while a Western Europe crossing will bring Valiant Lady north from Barcelona.
Scandinavia and Stockholm Overnight
The most comprehensive Baltic itinerary is a 12-night voyage from Amsterdam departing on 19 July 2028.
It visits Oslo, Copenhagen, Gdynia for Gdańsk, Stockholm, Warnemünde and Aarhus before returning to Amsterdam. Copenhagen receives a late departure, while the ship remains overnight in Stockholm.
The overnight allows passengers to spend an evening and much of the following day ashore. It also gives the ship time for a daylight journey through the Stockholm archipelago rather than treating the city as a short daytime call.
Norwegian Fjords
A seven-night Norwegian Fjords voyage departs Amsterdam on 31 July 2028 and calls at Molde, Nordfjordeid, Flåm and Bergen.
Virgin describes this as the quieter, landscape-led itinerary within the collection. It avoids the Scandinavian capitals and concentrates on western Norway's mountains, fjords and smaller communities.
Flåm provides access to the steep Flåm Railway, while Bergen combines its historic Bryggen waterfront with a major Norwegian cruise port.
Scandinavia and Hamburg
The second seven-night cruise leaves Amsterdam on 7 August 2028 and visits Oslo, Copenhagen and Hamburg.
Its smaller number of ports is balanced by longer stays. The ship is scheduled to remain late in Copenhagen and until close to midnight in Hamburg, giving passengers time to dine or explore ashore during the evening.
Virgin's first Arctic Circle crossing
The season's most northerly adventure is an 11-night Arctic Circle and Norwegian Fjords voyage beginning on 14 August 2028.
Its calls include Bergen, Tromsø, Honningsvåg, Trondheim, Åndalsnes and Olden. Honningsvåg serves as the gateway to the North Cape, while the route will take the ship to approximately 71 degrees north.
Virgin plans an Arctic Circle crossing ceremony and midnight-sun programming during the voyage. The itinerary marks the first occasion on which one of its ships has sailed above the Arctic Circle.
Western Europe crossing from Barcelona
Valiant Lady will reach Amsterdam on a ten-night crossing from Barcelona starting on 9 July 2028.
The repositioning voyage travels through Morocco, Portugal, Spain and France, with an overnight stay in Lisbon and the company's first visit to Cherbourg among its distinguishing features.
It acts as the opening chapter of the northern season rather than requiring the ship to reposition without passengers.
Passengers can combine all four northern cruises
Virgin is also offering a Scandinavia Summer Season Pass covering the four consecutive round-trip Amsterdam cruises.
The pass is designed for two passengers sharing a Central Sea Terrace cabin and includes additional benefits such as onboard drinks credit, one shore excursion on each voyage, upgraded Wi-Fi and laundry. Full payment is required when booking, and public sales for the pass are scheduled to begin on 14 August.
The four back-to-back cruises run from 19 July to 25 August and combine the Baltic capitals, Norwegian fjords, Hamburg and the Arctic Circle without repeating an identical itinerary.
Valiant Lady heads into new territory
Valiant Lady entered service in 2022 and normally carries approximately 2,770 passengers. Like Virgin's other ships, she operates exclusively for adults aged 18 and over.
Moving her to Amsterdam broadens a deployment previously associated mainly with the Mediterranean, Caribbean and transatlantic routes. It also puts Virgin into direct competition with established Northern Europe operators while retaining its dining, entertainment and adults-only approach.
The launch is therefore significant beyond the number of new itineraries. Fifteen maiden ports and the first Arctic Circle crossing represent Virgin Voyages' largest move yet into the northern European cruise market.
