Barcelona

Barcelona rarely needs an introduction, and that's part of the challenge it presents to cruise passengers: there's simply too much of it to see properly in a single port day. Gaudí's soaring, otherworldly architecture, a medieval old town built on Roman foundations, one of Europe's great food markets, and a seafront that somehow fits all of it in — Barcelona absorbs as much time as you're able to give it, and rewards every hour spent.

Dock
Most cruise ships dock at Moll Adossat, a modern terminal complex a short shuttle ride from the city centre, though some smaller ships use the World Trade Center terminals closer to town. From Moll Adossat, a shuttle typically drops passengers near La Rambla or the base of Montjuïc, putting the old city and waterfront within easy reach. Barcelona's excellent metro network, run by TMB, makes independent exploring straightforward: the closest station to the port area is Drassanes, at the foot of La Rambla, with connections onward to most of the city's major sights.
